Gentrification and Buzzwords

Today we live in a world that many things are cattered from marketing perspective. This is why we often end up with subjects or objects that at first sight look fantastic but in fact they hid a lot of underlaying issues.
Same goes with Gentrification.

Few days ago we had  our interview with one of the leading thinkiners about gentriciation in Brussels and the writer of the very valuable book “Contre La Gentrification” Mathieu Van Criekingen.

We posed a simple question.
Today in the formal discourse gentrification is often replaced with words such as: urban renewal, urban regeneration, urban rennasainse, urban attractivity and similar.
How to explain to people that these  words are in fact buzzwords that are hiding gentrification under the surface.

Briefly speaking, his answer in a a very calm way was:
The point of a buzzwords is exactly that, too buzz .
Than he added.
All the phrases that you have just mentioned have deeply embeeeded in them the issue of class division and struggle.
Talking about this phrases and not without talking about the class issues they carry along it is a very problematic thing.
More so, this words come from perspective of the enterpernurail world and marketing aspect, they are in fact trying to sell something.

Finally as we all know, there are plenty things that are being sold on th market as thy are grat but it deos not necesseriliy meanst they are.

Mathieu in fact added much more nuances in his interview but that is why you will hsve to watch our Yout ube channel and see all the valuable information we have managed to explore.
